Explorer has crafted a series of contextual experiences that are designed to enhance anyone’s stay at our Lodge. So much so that guests may be sorely tempted to stay longer as there is surely not enough time to embrace all that the Lodge has to offer.

With many experiences being complimentary to all guests, Explorer delivers multiple added-value experiences that international travellers are seeking.

Upclose & Personal

WILDLIFE PHOTOGRAPHIC HIDE

Serengeti Explorer has its very own purpose-built wildlife photographic hide located next to a permanently-fed water hole.

Attracting animals from the surrounding corridor, this waterhole sates the insatiable thirst the resident animals of the corridor.

This hide is a haven for those guests wishing to get ‘up close and personal’ with the wildlife. Watch in awe at the magnificence of the natural world as - for a brief moment - their differences are put aside in order to quench their need for the life-giving H2O.

This hide is open every day - and available to all guests.

Totally Focused

PHOTO STUDIO & CAMERA HIRE

Guests of Serengeti Explorer can now enjoy a dedicated photographic area in which budding photographers can learn how to compose, take and edit better wildlife shots - courtesy of our skilled Lodge photographer.

In addition Explorer offers the possibility of renting guests a 'camera bundle' for the duration of their stay.

Access to the Photo Studio is free of charge although camera rental comes with a daily hiring charge.

Duration: Full Day or at guests’ leisure.

Exclusive Vehicle & Guide

You can book an exclusive use vehicle and guide for the day. Subject to availability and needs to be pre-booked by reservations to be guaranteed.

Guests can chose between returning to the Lodge for lunch or a specially-prepared picnic hamper to be enjoyed at a designated picnic site.

Duration: Full day or at guests' leisure. Reservation required

Rhino Tracking Safari

Book an exclusive rhino-tracking excursion you will be accompanied by a park ranger, and the activity takes place in the nearby Moru Kopjes area.

This is a half day activity - with return transfers to the protected rhino area taking two hours and rhino tracking approximately two hours (by car). Picnic lunch also provided.

Duration: 5 hours (dependant on location of rhinos).

Guided Bush Walk

Truly an impressive experience: guests will walk in the company of an experienced guide and a Park Ranger to learn about tracking wildlife, and other secrets of the bush.

Duration: approximately 2 hours.

Celestial Stargazing Platform

Each evening our resident astronomer will guide you around the amazing canopy of stars overhead.

With the aid of both the naked eye and a state-of-the-art telescope, this experience is weather-dependent.

Duration: Complimentary, at guests' leisure

Serengeti Centre & Guide

Our resident Serengeti expert will offer a journey through time from early man and the formation of the Serengeti to the great migration as we know it today. This includes a visit to the Serengeti Cultural Centre.
